The first of two interviews Dan Morrison (@danielrmorrison.bsky.social) conducted with Dr. Ernesto Castañeda (@drernestocast.bsky.social), Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies and the Immigration Lab at American University in Washington, DC. Castañeda is an expert on migration, health disparities, social movements, and urban sociology. A prolific author, he has published many books, including two in 2024: Immigration Realities: Challenging Common Misperceptions with Carina Cione, published by Columbia University Press, and Reunited: Family Reunification and Central American Youth Migration, with Daniel Jenks, published by the Russell Sage Foundation.  In this one, Dan and Ernesto discuss Immigration Realities.
