Joe, Leslie and Gabriel interview Jessi Streib (Duke University) on the study of culture and social class. Jessi Streib wrote The Power of the Past: Understanding Cross-Class Marriages (Oxford University Press), a book on the challenges that college-educated couples face when one partner comes from a working class family. More recently, she write “The Unbalanced Theoretical Toolkit” in the American Journal of Cultural Sociology, an article on theorizing about the nexus of class, culture, and mobility.
