In this episode of The Annex, we will sit down with Joel Stillerman (Grand Valley State University) to talk about his research on Chile’s evolving middle class.  We will discuss how the South American country’s middle class navigates that region’s institutions to jockey for social mobility, and what these culture and class dynamics tell us.  Prof. Stillerman’s new book is Identity Investments: Middle-Class Responses to Precarious Privilege in Neoliberal Chile (Stanford University Press).   We will also discuss the challenges of comparative research and new currents in the sociology of Latin America
